Gun laws on the open ocean?

What are the laws and regulations concerning firearms on a boat in the ocean?

Fishing off the coast of Florida ?

What about on a boat from Florida to the Bahamas and back?

On a boat from LA to Hawaii?

I have this bucket list item to explore uninhabitated islands someday ( but don’t want to do that unarmed?).

My understanding is that the open ocean is bring what you want. The problem is when you get into territorial waters and the country is unfriendly on the idea of firearms! Gotta come back to port some time!

You must declare all on board firearms with Customs. ... Though you are allowed to have a firearm on your vessel, you cannot take it off the vessel unless you obtain a permit from the Bahamian police ahead of time. Weapons must be under lock and key at all times. This is the way it is in most Port of Calls.
