Meanwhile this new stuff breaks in a few years!! 😂

Buddy of mine's LG frig went out after 2 or 3 years. Under warranty, but it sounds like the LG customer service leaves a /bit/ to be desired.

I’ve got an Amana 20 energy saver still running strong as the overflow and beer fridge!!!
Model # BL20ML
MFG # P7812518WL
I think the damn thing was manufactured in 1978!! Neighbor gave it to me after replacing the compressor in 2010 after our fridge went out… I brought it with me when I moved in 2013 and the son of a bitch runs like a champ!! Nice and cold!!! She could use another paint job 😂

About 20 years ago I was on a service call at a older ladies home and commented on her pink colored Kenmore refrigerator. I said "they sure don't make like that anymore". She then proceeded to show me the matching pink washer and dryer that her and her husband had received as a wedding gift from her parents in 1954 !! All still running and operating ..

'Murica!!!! Back when we made things.

My friend bought a house in 1987 that came with a huge chest freezer in the basement, dating to the early 1980s.
In the middle 1990's it stopped running, and an appliance guy said the motor is shot and would cost several hundred dollars to fix.
I suggested my friend try a new start/run capacitor. He swapped it out himself for that $5 part and the thing's been running ever since.
As of Jan. 2022, last time I visited him and saw the freezer, it was still chugging away and making everything rock-hard frozen.

Still got my parents hotpoint washer from 1973 for a backup.

When my parents put their house up for sale, the prospective buyer saw an old upright freezer from the 70’s. My dad mentioned he was going to finally retire it. The buyer made my dad leave it in the house. Even after my dad told him what his power bill was. They dont make’em like they used to…

My dad built our house on the farm in the summer of 68. We got a Kenmore chest freezer from my Moms parents as a house warming gift.

Sold the house 3 years ago, chest freezer still runs to this day. 53 years and counting. The original dryer got tossed last year by current owners, Kenmore as well. The last 5 years before moving Mom used a broom handle to keep the door shut. We did replace the heaters after Dad died in 88.
