I noticed there is a Echolink repeater near by. Any of you ever tried Echolink? I know next to nothing about it.

I work with a guy that has some old equipment. I think he would be interested in selling it.

Is there much demand for it? I believe he bought it many years ago, but no longer uses it. Don't know anything about it - other than he mentioned having it and never using it.

I’ve used it once to participate in a net that was on a repeater that was out of range of my equipment. It’s basically an internet link to the net but still runs through a repeater and is transmitted. You can talk to people all over the world.

I've used it in the past while working a hurricane net. Not real fond of the mode. Doesn't seem much like real radio.

I'll have to ask the guy again if he still has it and what is is. Perhaps he can give me a model number or something.

I received my Yaesu FT5D. I managed to get the local repeater channels programmed in. I am able to hit 2 of the local repeaters - one is VHF and the other UHF.
