Has anyone used Uhaul U boxes?

We are closing on the sale of our house here on the 15th. Close on our new house in Mississippi on the 18th. Due to the need to be totally out of our house here by the 15th and giving the owners in Mississippi a few days to move, our only option is Uhaul U boxes. We are moving to a very rural area that Pods, U-pack etc will not service. Uhaul will deliver the boxes to our new home. Any tips on using these? We do have loaders that Uhaul recommends on both ends.

A friend compared/contrasted U-haul to the others. U-haul was significantly cheaper.

I came from freight industry and have repaired many U-Packs (shop super) and worked docks and such for 40 years. Pack everything like it will be handled by TSA workers on a Friday evening on overtime. Anything loose inside will be damaged or damage something else. Buy several sets (can't have enough) of ratchet straps from Harbor Freight to secure stuff. Don't get the pull/sinch kind, but actual ratchet ones. Check out the inside of the container very closely. Any light showing will most likely have wet stuff under or around it. Not a bad idea to put a plastic drop cloth over everything if it can't get wet, don't forget the doors in front also. Get a real lock for the doors.

When they deliver it, make sure that it can be placed somewhere it won't destroy the yard or driveway with the equipment. Lifts normally won't break the driveway but can mark it up badly. In the yard, lift can rut up and trash grass or shrubs. Think out where you are going to have everything dropped in advance.

U-Haul boxes looked flimsy to us when we moved to and from CO. We used 1-800-Pack-Rat both times as well as when we moved Mrs. Monos's folks up from FL.

If U-Haul is your only option I'm sure as long as you make good choices for placement of the drop you will be fine. Like Allsmiles said...pack everything well....use your inner Tetris skills and lash that **** down like it's crossing an ocean. Buy quality locks.
