I have wanted to cut the cable for a long time.

I’m up in the Gainesville/Oakwood/Flowery Branch area.

Anybody have any experience with these antennas?

I just want the broadcast local channels.

I just cut Comcast cable, kept their internet. Bought myself a Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and an Amazon Fire TV Recast 500 gb DVR with an el-cheapo window mounted HD antenna and get all the local stations plus a BUNCH more (115 total stations of which I like the content on about 80%). You should check out the recast. You hook the HD antenna up to that and it can be placed anywhere in your house. As long as the Fire TV Stick 4K and an Amazon Fire TV Recast are on the same wireless network you can stream, record, pause, schedule recordings....any channel the HD antenna gets. There is a guide and you can even preview channel content before selecting.

I am closer in than you are and the small HD antenna is OK. I get all channels in 1080I HD. But now I am considering an omni-directional outdoor antenna too just to see what else I can get for free. Since the Recast box does not have to be connected to the TV I can put it anywhere and not have to worry about wiring anything as long as it is connected to our wifi.
