Is anyone familiar with heavy artillary cartriges? A friend of mine moved into a new house and found something while cleaning up the back yard. Looks to have been used as yard art, trying to figure out if it is a replica or what. The primer looks like a hex bit plug. Anyone have knowledge in this field? Thoughts?

Hard to tell pics are horrible. If not a Naval shell it's a 105mm round the towed guys shoot. I was on M109A3s 155mm guns, SP. We didn't shoot fixed rounds.

It could be (probably) a practice round. If you get that dirt off it should be stamped/printed "For cycling purposes only" somewhere on it. I have one in my gunroom that looks exactly like it except mine has a red front hhalf instead of white

Does your primer look like this one?
