I lost a good friend today. I had to have my dog put to sleep today. She had cancer and it got her fast. She was my hunting buddy. She could find quail when you thought there werent any to be found and she would sit and eat a ham sammich with me on a break and then let me know I was being lazy and that it was time to find more birds. She pointed many quail and woodcock all over Georgia and Alabama for me and anyone else who had the pleasure to hunt with her. Its tough to lose a dog so young, only 5 years old.

Sorry to hear of your loss, when it comes to a good dog, 5 years is not long enough.
But it sounds like she lived a fun full life with you in that short time.

I have a 13 year old rottweiler... and maybe this story might bring a little smile to you... My 1st rottie "Amon" 13 is very old for a rottie, a night or 2 ago my wife wakes me up and says, He's gone.... its 3:48 am I shoot awake and go to the end of the bed, I shake him and nothing... I pet his head nothing... then out of no where, he makes a deep snore and farts.... But I feel your pain... I lost my other rottie "Gunther" on Aug 11, 2011, wife took him to the emergancy vet at 6 pm, less then 24 hours later he was gone. ( cancer )

My Rottie past away when she was 11, then my Dachshund past away 2 years later. It's like losing a child, I'm sorry for your loss. They truly are a blessing, they love unconditionally no matter who, what or where you are. All they ask for in return is your attention. I heard a preacher flap that dogs don't have souls, I disagree. It may not be a soul as ours is but there's definitely something there inside that can't be explained, only admired and loved.
