Helpful trading tips from a tradeaholic.

Common sense needs a sticky? I guess common sense is not all that common anymore.

Just a late night vent I put in stupid stuff. I didn't realize they had given it a sticky until you said something.

Of course it is now the number one thread you see when visiting the "Stupid" stuff forum. :pound:

1. "What's your trade value?"

I hate this question and generally won't answer it seriously if at all. What I value my item at means nothing in a swap. What matters is what YOU value it at and what I value whatever you are offering me at.

If I really want what you have more so than what I have, I will trade with you even if your item retails new for more than mine. If I don't really have much interest in what you have, I may still swap with you but I am going to value something I'm really not that crazy about much less than what I can buy it used for in any gun store.

Instead of asking what my value is, offer up your item you are interested in trading for my item. This will get you a much more serious response than asking me what my "trade value" is.

This is pretty much the only question that will make me totally ignore a PM. If you can't determine the value by what trade interests I have listed or at the very least do 2 minutes worth of Google research to see what the value is, we probably aren't going to be able to work out a deal anyway.

Speaking in generalities in the context of this thread is one thing, but please don't link to others user's classifieds ads as direct examples.
