I might be trading into a boat with a cracked 1997 Merc 350 Magnum. Im not a GM guy. But… trying to figure out what-if any options I have for a long block replacement. According to MichiganMotorz, the link below is a direct replacement. Ive looked around online and found conflicting info about whether a truck vortec would suffice. Some say marine engines are built tougher and the difference isnt only the cam. Can anyone help clarify or shed some light on this? While Im ok with purchasing a new “marine” engine, Id like to know if thats my only option. Also any recommendations on local engine dealers would be great. We used to deal with Shaddix but hes long gone. Thanks for any help.
And while we’re at it, is this considered an LS1? I read online where it is an LS and then its not.
