High power FM CB radio

If you have access to a SWR meter and a tall tree, google “how to make a 450 ohm ladderline J-pole 11 meter wire antenna” to hang off a tree branch with slingshot & fishing line
I have a couple SWR meters. Not a lot of tall trees. I want to connect it to my standing seam metal roof. "CQ, CQDX!" 😎

100 watts? That's weak, man. Some of these guys are pushing 1,000. I routinely hear a guy DXing from Louisiana, another guy in Florida.
It's not about the power, it all depends on the antenna. I have worked the world with 5 watts using a directional beam on 10 meters. Many Hams work less with less than 5 watts and talk all over, depending on the props and the antenna. Antenna is king.

Gotcha. I never got into that.
It was (is?) THE way to legally talk skip literally the globe over. Talked to Australia on 5 watts. Later, 160 watts made regular skipping all over most of the country and Canada, from south Louisiana almost automatic. Regular AM was far too noisy (and just inefficient) and was regulated to local conversations. Plus much less likely my neighbors would hear me over their TV while they were watching Carson if I was on SSB.

When I was running my 10 meter and 500 watt linear, my neighbors told me it came over their surround sound in their house when I drove by if I was keyed up and talking. Crazy how radio waves work...
