This is as far as the thumb safety allows to be pushed, and it is very loose going up. I get the point about keeping the thumb on top of the safety lever, but I thought it supposed to lock in place instead of being so loose.
Looks to me as if it’s resting on the grip on its front edge. Pull the grip and see if it goes down further and “snaps” on the detent. If it does, remove a little material from the grip to allow it to come all the way down. CM is a damn fine gunsmith, so listen when he talks…
Edited to add:
So, I went back and actually read the thread, and I think you’ve already found what I saw…trim the grip just a bit…

Definitely not the grip issue...that was my first thing that I checked.

has the safety been replaced ? if so it was not fitted properly, safeties are not drop in parts..
Safety has been replaced, I am trying to track down the original right now. I wish I could explain in words but it's difficult to. And pictures won't show properly what I need to show about the part not fitting correctly.

I watched some videos about the shaving off the part to fit inside...but that is not the issue. It is possible that this is an older 1911 that possibly has a specific part made a bit different.

It’s hard to diagnose the actual issue from pictures… but I have seen some safeties that have needed to tuned for the detent in the plunger tube. I can definitely help get you going in the right direction.

I will think about it buddy!
This is a budget 1911 and I don't really want to pay much to get this part fixed. But will get back to you if I don't see other solutions. Thank you!
