Ever cook on one?
I finally got the one we never used in the RV and put some salmon on it.
They say you have to preheat it 30-50 min.
I cheated, kicked the grill up to full blast and put the salmon fillet on it after 10 min.
Flipped and cooked about 20 min total.
Not bad.
I can taste the salt.
Wonder if you could smoke with it.

Be careful and don't bring it to temp too fast, it will bust on you. It's fun to use on skrimps and marinated backskrap sliced real thin. Everybody can sit around and cook their own like they want it.:hungry:

I’ve done it a good bit, I did a Big Green Egg cooking class with the salt blocks awhile back that’s what got me hooked. Seafood, chicken, steak, veggies. It’s all good! They even did sliced fruit on it and poured almond brittle on a cold salt block it was awesome too!

I might have to try this depending on the price of a salt block. I prefer my food on the cast iron grate, even though I’ve yet to get one for my Green Egg.

How the cooking time vary from cooking directly on the grate? For example let’s use a normal grocery store NY Strip, mine usually cook for 6-8 min at a high heat. How long would it take on a salt block?
