I was raised to be polite and respectful to others, and to hold the door for women. I've noticed more and more lately that most women who I hold doors for don't even look my way to acknowledge me or say thank you. Today I stood at the door of a restaurant, got out of the way and waited on 3 kids and a woman and she didn't say a word or even look at me. It pissed me off a little.

Anyone else notice that people don't give a s&%$ about courtesy anymore? Not just women you hold doors for, but also people who you have intentionally slowed down for to let over etc.

Yeah, courtesy is dying a slow, agonizing death. I tend to say "You're welcome" when I hold a door or extend some other courtesy. I just say it louder and a little more sharply when I say it to someone who didn't say "Thank you".

;)

Class is hard to find these days. I hold the door for anyone because it was how I was raised, and I feel better without someone standing directly behind me.

Yep I open the door for everyone. Most of the time people don't say thank you. They other say however, I held the door for a lady and her little girl. The mother walked right by me and never acknowledged me, the little girl however turned around as her mother was dragging her out the door and looked up and said "thank you!" with a huge smile on her face. That was enough to keep me doing it.
