Holding/Opening doors for women....

I still hold the door for people, also give a yes,sir and yrs,ma'am.

I had a lady at a fast food chain ask me if that would complete my order.
I said yes ma'am.
She told me it was disrespectful to call her a ma'am.
I said would you rather hear yes ***** and walked out.

well, I know, if my Mom was still here, if she was standing there and saw me "NOT" open a door for a lady,no matter what the lady didnt do, id get smacked on back of the head! LOL

I say yes/no mam/sir no matter how mad it make the transplants. And I still hold the door for anyone. However, I can't say I'll continue to hold it untill you clear the doorway if you don't show some gratitude of some kind.

I was raised to be polite and respectful to others, and to hold the door for women. I've noticed more and more lately that most women who I hold doors for don't even look my way to acknowledge me or say thank you. Today I stood at the door of a restaurant, got out of the way and waited on 3 kids and a woman and she didn't say a word or even look at me. It pissed me off a little.

Anyone else notice that people don't give a s&%$ about courtesy anymore? Not just women you hold doors for, but also people who you have intentionally slowed down for to let over etc.

I always hold open a door and they always say Thanks or at least smile at me... maybe it's a location thing

Doesn't really bother me. I always hold the door, and after that.. I don't really care what you say or do. I've done my part.
