Holding/Opening doors for women....

So, you guys do the right thing, (the courteous thing, the respectful thing, the classy thing, the mannerly thing, however you want to classify it) why ruin it by becoming a Douche Bag when they don't respond properly, or in a manner you think that they should?

And yeah, yelling, "YOU'RE WELCOME", or using profanity, is being a Douche Bag.

No it is called teahing someone manners and to have respect and be thankful when SOMEONE does you good.

I was raised to be polite and respectful to others, and to hold the door for women. I've noticed more and more lately that most women who I hold doors for don't even look my way to acknowledge me or say thank you. Today I stood at the door of a restaurant, got out of the way and waited on 3 kids and a woman and she didn't say a word or even look at me. It pissed me off a little.

Anyone else notice that people don't give a s&%$ about courtesy anymore? Not just women you hold doors for, but also people who you have intentionally slowed down for to let over etc.

I blame it on the rude yankees that move down here. They water down the southern manners.

Well I wont say douche bag (cause I know your heart), but I gotta agree with WD's general concept here. We must do the right thing expecting nothing in return because its our job to do the right thing, to set an example to those around us that might be watching, We lead by example,if we get a thank you here or there or a pat on the back, well thats just extra iceing on the cake. But regardless we can move on knowing that we did our job, we did what we were raised to do.

That is by definition "the right thing".
