It doesn't take very much to kick a door in, if it hasn't been reinforced. As a long time resident of East Atlanta, I can tell you, my neighbors and I all use Srikemasters and 3-1/2" to 4" screws on the hinges. It won't keep someone out who is really determined, but it will buy you some time. 3M film on windows, quality motion sensing flood light and most important, a big ass dog.
I use the 3-4 inch screws on the lock side also. The little half inch screws that come with a hinge or knob package go in the trash.
You might kick my door in, but you'll have to get a running start for the third time.
Everybody should replace those little screws with some 3-4 inches long. It ain't like you have to be a carpenter to swap out screws, but you will need a drill.
