It doesn't take very much to kick a door in, if it hasn't been reinforced. As a long time resident of East Atlanta, I can tell you, my neighbors and I all use Srikemasters and 3-1/2" to 4" screws on the hinges. It won't keep someone out who is really determined, but it will buy you some time. 3M film on windows, quality motion sensing flood light and most important, a big ass dog.
Outward opening steel doors and frames.
I use the 3-4 inch screws on the lock side also. The little half inch screws that come with a hinge or knob package go in the trash.
You might kick my door in, but you'll have to get a running start for the third time.
Everybody should replace those little screws with some 3-4 inches long. It ain't like you have to be a carpenter to swap out screws, but you will need a drill.
The Strikemaster is about a 4' long striker plate that has probably 6 each 4" screws. With a metal door, good deadbolt and lockset it will take a serious beating before finally giving way if you secure the hinge side with long screws as well. Probably leave a thug with a broken ankle, but that'll be the least of his worries. After the first kick, I'll be on the other side with a 25-round mag of .308 that a metal door ain't coming close to stopping...

Where is Fieldstone? I'm in Bridgemill. We have definitely seen a rise in crime in Cherokee in the last few years. More ITP trash and the like coming this way. Unfortunately we are the next target on the urban sprawl hit list.
