I've been wanting to move out of the home I'm currently in for over a year now & it reached a boiling point the other week when some d-bag decided it would be a good idea to let out 5 shots from his pistol about 100yrds from my back door.

This wouldn't be a problem for me normally except, I live in a FLAT, clear cut, cookie cutter home neighborhood that has no back stop or trees to keep that bullet from entering my home. Further more, after having 3 drug dealers in 3 separate houses that are within 5 houses of my own (one was next door for a while) I'm tired of calling the non-emergency line to report the activity that happens in broad daylight.

The odds of it just being a casual sighting in or even a "desk pop" are not as likely as it being a drug deal gone wrong.

The neighborhood, before the criminals moved in, was very nice. Run by an HOA & had high home values. Now, the homes are selling for under half of their original costs leaving people like me up the creek without a paddle when it comes to getting the home sold for a decent price.

I am a country girl at heart. Raised in a small Bama town & very much missing the open space. Not to mention the ability to not see your neighbors on a daily basis if you don't want to.

I don't have a good credit score because of stupid mistakes made years ago. Since that time I've matured & have had steady, well paying jobs (2 in the past 8 years) but still trying to build enough credit back for a serious loan.

Working at the airport, I want to be somewhere that I can get to work (on a day with no traffic) in about 45m.

My question, does anyone have any advice on how I can get into a home that is more open, in a place that's safer?
I would love to have enough room to shoot a gun on my own property & even better, would love to be able to hunt on my own land too but for now, I'd settle for just getting away from the crap hole that is my neighborhood.

Thanks

45 mins with no traffic?

Draw a circle around the airport on a map with a 45 mile radius. I live in Duluth and its 45 mins to the airport. You have lots of places to pick from.

Yeah I was about to say, 45 mins no traffic about includes about the whole metro area
Get a budget idea and go from there

Don't worry so much about your exact score. Just get it up in the mid 600s'. I think 620 quals you for FHA. Maybe join one of the credit boards and follow the advice from the people there. There are easy tactics to quickly raise your score 50 to 100 points if you are in the low 600's. You could even hire one of the few LEGIT credit repair companies. But you can do it yourself if you understand how the system works. It might take 20-40hrs of work.
The reason your score doesn't matter so much anymore is because stated income loans no longer exist. You have to have the down payment and income verified. If you have the money, the bank will lend.
I think staying close to the 285 loop would work anywhere. I'd look up around Gwinnett. That area is getting pretty nice.
I also think you are just screwed with your current house. Maybe hire a company to rent it out. It's all about cash flow anyways.

You guys that think you can make the airport in 45 minutes from anywhere north of the perimeter or some days north of I-20 obviously don't drive it during rush hour...
In theory I can make the 60ish miles from exit 111 on I-85 (Suwanee) to the airport in just under an hour and have several times.... provided it's 4 am on a Sunday or at least no where near rush hour. Normal rush hour takes an hour and a half to go from the same spot to downtown!
The OP needs to look at Newnan/Ptree City as has been mentioned.
