I've been thinking about getting a setup aswell. One question I have is how secure is the cameras if that makes sense? Say you went wifi or even hard lined how easy would it be for someone to tap into your camera to see what you see? No tin foil hat just saying lol hasn't there been a big time company in the past that has admitted to checking cameras on pc's and smart phones?

99 % of camera hacks are because folks fail to change the default password on their systems. I have been installing camera systems for over nine years and have yet to have a single client have a system hacked.

I agree with that. The software can be REALLY complex and do more than anyone person could ever imagine. The fisheye cameras for example. Good lord they will do a ton.
Is there something better?

A few years ago i made the move from Geovision and other PC based systems to stand alones, too many clients were having problems with their PC's. Accidently downloading a virus or malware would wreak havoc on their PC and in return their camera software.

Here are my issues with these. Batteries, storage and picture quality.
