How do you convince family members to start PREPPING?

Most of the guys here are prepping in some way or form. However, I know we all have family members or close friends that refuse to prep for any emergency. They will not store food, guns, or even a first aid kit! My family members all know that I work in the Survival Food business and they know first hand that some of my customers are doctors, lawyers, pastors, etc.
But for some reason they all seem to be in denial. Does anyone have any advice for me to give them or should I just let GOD sort them out when things hit the fan in this country?

I think in many instances people have to live through something negative that shapes their plans going forward....for example I grew up in FL and went through several hurricanes where we had no power for two weeks etc.

I was in the same boat. Down in fort lauderdale in 04-05, Katrina and at least 3 others came through. My restaurant was closed due to no power, lost about $18,000 in food cost alone. We had no power at home, gas IF you could find it was at least an hour up to three...meanwhile they would max you at $25 per fill to ration the gas. It definitely opened y eyes, and I had the generator at home, food stored up, but it was still a shock.

Dude, I was there too! I seen people (non preppers) waiting in line for ice. Then I seen people getting into fist fights over bags of ice that FEMA was handing out. Ii got real ugly in some neighborhoods. I also learned a lot about martial law. When they had state troopers and cops blocking people from crossing into Broward county or Dade County. Then some gas stations doing price gouging; $150 to fill a $50 tank !!! The only entertaining part was that many of the strip clubs were still open albeit a generator. A serious survival situation yet prostitution was still a thriving business. Go figure!!!

I live with just my dog. I don't think I'd be able to live with someone who doesn't believe partially in prepping. When friends who live half way across the country find out and make fun of me I just laugh it off. I'll still be laughing long after they are dead from starvation or murder. Not sure how I'd feel re: loved ones close to me who didn't prep when SHTF.

You just need to keep talking to them. Keep the conversations simple and nonconfrontational. It took a couple of my inlaws two years to come around. I keep sending them shadow stats about the real unemployment figures, articles on how there is no way out of the financial storm that is coming, etc. Plus, I budget money toward adding to our supply pantry every month - food, medical stuff, water filtration. It helps them when they see you putting your money where your mouth is.

My wife is also 100% on board. THat's very helpful. She pushes me to buy food stores and looks for good deals on hunting rifles, etc.

THe family on my wife's side just suggested we all band together to buy a retreat property. I don't think they're serious yet, but that is truly a complete 180 degree turn from how they were thinking 2 years ago.

My side of the family lives up in the NE. Politically, they are very liberal and believe the government will take care of them if anything happens. They would rather collect muppets than put away a little extra food storage. Love them to death, but I will not be able to support them if we get into a SHTF scenario.
