I know the overall sense of geography is limited here on ODT, but how the heck is Dahlonega even *close* to being considered 'Metro Atlanta'? I try to sort by the location tags, and this keeps coming up. An hour outside of the perimeter is metro Atlanta? By that measure so is Macon.....

How is Dahlonega considered 'Metro Atlanta'???

I live in Dahlonega.
I thought my info said it was "NE GA"
And I certainly don't consider myself even close to Atl.
Maybe I'm wrong.
But if I AM considered metro Atl, then I'll be moving

Sir location is based on your proximity to Atlanta. I see southwest ga and think it will be close. Many times I find its noth of Newnan. The easiest thing to do is just search by mileage

It all depends on your place of birth. For instance, if you were born in _______ then ________:
Outside Ga = Atlanta is everything other than Savannah
South Ga = Waycross is home and everything else is North
Albany = everything other than Albany is North Ga

Actually Metro Atlanta is a lot bigger than you would think. It actually encompasses all of Fulton County, Gwinnett, Cobb, DeKalb and Clayton Counties. Fooled me until i started writing contracts for the state for services within the Metro Atlanta area. Of course I don't believe this includes Dahlonega but it's an unusual rule.
Anywhere the Atlanta suburbanites can make a day trip to a farmers market or pick apples is metro atlanta.
