How is the milsurp market these days?

What’s the going value on an inland M1 carbine these days? Have a friend looking to sell one

Non import marked $750-$800

Carbine chart.jpg

The most common, highest production, would need to be something special, all original, earliest features... to be worth any more, or special, like an original M1a1 paratrooper...

Pics he has provided so far, looks to have a General Motors barrel dated 43. I’ll probably list it on here for him

Typical Post WWII or Korean war overhaul with all the early parts pitched and late war and post war updates added...$750 to $900 depending on muzzle wear... I have seen really nice carbines... that would swallow a bore gauge... not good for shooting or collecting...

Id love to get a M48 Yugo mauser. Ive seen a couple and some are in very, very nice and they are seasonably priced. Are these still being imported? I see these increasing in value in the future. Is this just a pipe dream? I know they are not quite historical but a great example of mauser quality.

I think Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore has a ton of these, so I would guess is that they are still being imported or at least were imported fairly recently. Based on the lack of historical value and availability, I don't see these increasing in value a whole lot any time soon, but they will if you're playing the long game. On it's own though, I think an M48 is a very good value. They are around the same price as some Mosin Nagants (what has the world come to?) and it's easily a superior rifle.
From my own personal reference point, I have an M48 in absolutely pristine condition with all the accessories and matching everything that's still in the cardboard box. It was $199 back in the mid 2000's and the value now is realistically 350-400. It took over a decade to be worth appreciably more. The takeaway is that, like anything of limited supply and (possibly) increasing demand, you'll see an appreciation, but it's not like it's gone through the roof or anything. That would be Russian Capture K98s.
