How things used to be

My mom taught me to say please and thank you and at 63 I still do that. My 34 year old daughter does as well. Common courtesy and manners make you appear far above the average joe running around these days. It takes so little from you to smile and say thank you and the dividends are so worth it.

I know, it literally takes nothing out of you and can easily cheer up someone else's day. I don't get it. And for real, if I stop long enough to hold the door open for you, at least have the courtesy to thank me. I tend to yell "you're welcome" when they don't. And fyi, I'm a chick but yes I still hold doors for people. It's not a chivalry thing, it's a courtesy thing.
