How To Break In A New Barrel..........

All joking aside I do have an AR10 in 6.5CM that I'm going to try break in just in case...

There is no "real" answer. This may be the hottest contested rifle subject, even greater than lapping rings.

You mean “lapping rings” as in an engine?( If so i think you mean valves)
I personally have never heard of breaking in a barrel before....then again, i have never bought a higher end barrel either.

Clean your barrel. Shoot it. Clean out all of the copper. Then carry on.

I can see an argument for barrel break in on a factory barrel. Not so much on a cut rifled, hand lapped match barrel like a bartlein, rock creek, etc. You will still be laying down copper in either and your round will speed up as you hit equilibrium.

Lapping scope rings.

Never had to do that either. Im guessing so as to get full contct with the scope all the way around?

Clean with borecleaner. 1 shot, cool, bore snake, ×5. 3 shot, cool, boresnake, x3. Good to go. Probably doesnt matter one bit but that's my superstition and I stick with it.

What kind of barrel are we talking?

Factory “precision” rifle barrel, as found in a Remington/Savage/Tikka?

A true match barrel, as in Krieger/Schneider/Bartlein/etc.?

A blaster barrel, like a CHF HC AR barrel?

Bergara B-14 HMR in 308.I shot it 9 times tuesday and swabbed it after each shot with a cool down period between each shot.Will shoot it next week again. Just curious if there is a correct way. Thats the way I have done my new guns.
