How to remove paint from a wooden stock ?

Careful with the steel wool, all made in china, rust will end up on your stock.

Check Rimfire Central and look for NoRemf's posts. He worked for one of the big stain company's as an engineer.

His post's are the gold standard for stock refinishing.

Fine grit sandpaper removed the paint, but unfortunately scratches the gloss coat underneath. :(
Hoping to find something that would chemically soften the Krylon without damage to the gloss coat.
Next attempt will be Laquer thinner then as a last resort the Citrus Stripper which I am afraid may be too aggressive.
My son suggested brake cleaner. Any thoughts if that would work or how aggressive it may be?

I am sure the products designed for the aviation industry would remove the Krylon, but I am afraid it would also remove the underlying polyurethane gloss coat :(

Laquer Thinner with a little elbow grease seems to be working. :D
