My Dad has a hunting club that has had a good bit of pottery pieces and arrowheads found on it. I think one guy even found a spear or hatchet. Any of you guys know anything about looking in the right place? I've never found anything myself so just wondering what you guys are doing to find stuff. Also, the legalities, if there are any. Like can't take it out of water, can only pick up certain stuff, etc.

As I understand, as long as its on the surface and you have permission, its legal.
I know some people with unbelievable collections. Alot did come from the rivers in fla. Some from fields in SW Ga. Our state and the feds dont allow taking from rivers I believe. There is rumors of a very large indian “city” just North of Albany. I saw an old map with it sort of marked. It is plantation country so its all very private.
In places, its hard to step without stepping on worked chirt. I found them in places you wouldn’t expect as well. Always looking down. Snakes and artifacts lol 8710F7AD-AD72-4A2E-8FAB-459F34B13E55.jpegSome are just broken or unfinished here.

my Dad and his step-brother had large collections, he said the best time was freshly plowed ground after a strong rain. He was hunting 100 years ago in rural Illinois.

Yes on freshly plowed fields. Unreal how many arrowheads could be found after a fresh plow growing up in Texas. And pottery. Wished I had kept my collection.
