Get a composite stocked gun if you are going to really be hunting with it. You will bang and scratch up a nice wood stock if you are out in the woods much or banging it on stands. I've got a couple of Ruger American Predators in 308 that I don't even worry about where they are taken. I can buff a scratch out if needed. Other gun is a LR308 and I use it as I see fit.

If you go this route, i have a ruger american in .270 for you. Original box to go with, has a nikon prostaff 3-9x40 with bdc reticle...only 20 rounds through it
