Hunting with a pistol

Exactly. When I bought my first pistol, with the intention of shooting a deer, it was a .357 magnum, and the only ammo that met the 500 foot pounds of energy was the CCI Lawman. I used that for a while until I upgraded to a .44 magnum, and then a 30-30 Contender. So, without clarification in the regs, someone could use the .25acp. My idiot neighbor was at it again this past weekend, shooting at an 8 pointer with a Glock 9mm at 75 yards. With approximately 350 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle, I figure it would have about enough power to penetrate the skin, and wound him. We found no hair or blood, which may be a good thing.

That would be the last time I was around that neighbor.

Having said that, it is 'legal' to deer hunt with a .25acp.

In my humble opinion, use a 40 cal or larger with a 6" or longer barrel and keep your shots to under 50 yds. I used a 44 mag for years and then moved on to a S&W 460. With the correct shot placement it always worked for me. Like bow hunting, it pays to be patient.

Well, there ya go, a guy using an appropriate caliber. I have shot several with a 629 and a Contender 30-30. Awesome fun.

Yes. Just like I've heard of people using a 9mm (and .22wmr and .22lr etc..) I hear a lot of stupid stuff.
