I bonds

If you have the cash available it seems like a good investment today. If you're going to buy the $10,000 each for the year it makes sense to buy the bonds in partial amounts, like $2,500 each for 4 bonds so that if you need some cash you don't have to cash in the whole $10,000.

That was the plan. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s I was staying CDs monthly/quarterly so if I needed some, it was readily available.
