I didn't know where to post this

I had to take our family dog Oreo to vet today to have her put to sleep. It was easily the hardest thing I've ever done in my entire life.

No, she wasn't a prize hunting dog (and we have two other hunting dogs). She was only a rescue mutt. But she was loved by all. She was our neighborhood's favorite dog. The FedEx and UPS drivers would stop to spend time with her, even if they didn't have a delivery. Even our other dogs and cats loved her. Oreo had the most kind and loving soul that I have ever seen in an animal.

I'm not the kind of guy who likes to share my struggles or pain, but I know that there are many of you in ODT Land with great dogs who understand this post. For the rest of you, please spend a little extra time with your dog this week. Throwing the stick for 5 more minutes won't kill you, but your dog sure will love it. And always strive to be the kind of man that your dog thinks you are.
