I have to quit smoking to have spinal fusion surgery

I have to have spinal fusion surgery and the Dr. said he would not perform the surgery unless I have stopped smoking for 6 weeks.
I was given this information on Valentine's day.
He said no nicotine at all so no gum, patches vaping etc.
I have been smoking for over 30 years and I dipped for 25 years while smoking.
I have cut back my smoking by vaping and smoking for the past 2 years but my vape juice contains 24 mg of nicotine.
I smoked like a fiend until I went to bed that night.
I have not had any nicotine since then.
This is only day 2 and I really want to smoke.....

This has been going on for months and he told me try therapy and injections and if that did not work he would do the surgery.
None of the alternatives worked so he said let's do the surgery and oh by the way you have to quit smoking for 6 weeks first.
I wish he would have told me this months ago but here we are...
