i have two shotguns that have been cut down.........

I have checked and checked again and they seem to be legal to me, just wanted some others thoughts. Both have barrel lengths of 18 1/2 inches and overall they measure 28 1/2 inches. from what I can find and read both Am I correct on this? I just want to be sure what I have is legal or it is getting filled with lead. thanks T

Barrel must be minimum of 18 inches measured from the face of the bolt when completely closed. In other words down the barrel with the bolt home. Not sure on the minimum length, but I'm thinking 26 or 26.5 inches?

18" for the barrel, (16" if rifled, I believe) and 26" overall. Someone will correct me if I am mistaken.

I know we measured ours when we cut the barrel by sliding a wooden dowel down the barrel when the bolt was closed. mark the end sticking out of the bbl, and pull it out and measure. Gotta keep the damned BATFE happy.

Simple, push a tape measure as for down the barrel as you can get it, when it hits the bolt face thats the lenght of the barrel. Thats how the ATF measures.

I would make sure the barrel is longer than 18". If you cut one 18" and by the time you get it squared up it could be shorter than 18".
Your tape and their measure may not be the same.
I would stick to around 19" to be on the safe side.

If you measured correctly they are legal.
