My only advice is to take the number of guns the manufacturer says it will hold and divide by 2. This may not hold true for more expensive safes but it does for the less expensive ones I have seen.
Very true!
Agree 100%
I need a decent safe. So I have done some research and have come up with a few general requirements: I know I need to buy one that has more capacity than what I actually own. Have been to Tractor Supply and seen the Cannon's and Winchesters. Been to Cabela's and Hi Caliber. Now its time to make a decision.
I want something in the 40-50 gun capacity. I can't spend more than $1500. I am looking at the Liberty fatboy Jr, and the Champion Medalist 41. They seem very close in specs.
Any advise? What safe should I buy?

I have been in the safe/vault/safe deposit business (Open-Service-Repair) for 40+ years, warrantee and service for all safe companies in the US and work with many locksmiths. I believe that Liberty sells more safes than anyone in the USA. Champion is run by past liberty people. Winchester brand is actually made by Granite Safe Co. in Texas as Remington brand is made by Liberty. Most safe companies use China for many their low-end safes. You must remember: If you aren't paying much---you're not getting much. What you are actually paying for is hidden as it is the security of/in the container. Cannon makes a good product, so does American Security (Amsec). A Rino Safe is impressive (I've seen the bolt works/security) With a $1500.00 limit you can certainly buy a pretty good safe, but a $2500+ limit will buy you a great safe. I hope this helps you on your decision. Larry Burdge c/o J&L Enterprises,, Baldwin, GA. 706-768-3112/706-886-0221I need a decent safe.
