My tow vehicle is out of commission. I bought my RAM 1500 in 2014 (used) I checked for recalls and the dealer where I use to live never had parts & I plain forgot about it. The rear end pinion nut comes loose and my failure was text book. Traveling at 55MPH (not towing) the RAM made a loud chopper sound and came to an immediate stop. I nearly ate the steering wheel. The pinion gear goes vertical and locks your rear and mine sheared the drive shaft. . Had it towed to the nearest dealer (40 miles) Probably in the shop a week or more. If I'd known how serious this recall is I would have parked on the old dealers door step! I'm MoPar thru & thru and this is the only failure I've had in 4 RAM trucks. Moral of the story check your VIN and insist on immediate repairs if your RAM is affected . I think years 2005 thru 2012 are suspected.
