I'm planning to keep the Explorer which is 4X4, so I can get to the Krogers and buy milk and bread in case of Snowmageddon. The 2X4 seems to 'ride' better to me.

I was looking at used trucks. I started looking at 2018's since it's December. I'm really looking at a 2018 Lariat 2X4. My God that thing is nice.

pair of chains and you can go just about anywhere you want on those 2 occasions you need 4wd.Now if you just wanna be cool jack it all up, dont adjust the ****in headlights and blind everybody with your LED lights

Guys, if it is a 2wd truck, it is a 4x2 not a 2x4. A 4wd is 4 contact points and 4 drive points, hence 4x4. A 2wd is 4 contact points and 2 drive points. A 2x4 is a piece of wood you buy at Home Depot or Lowes

I have driven Ford Crew cab Lariat 4x4 for the past 8 years wouldn’t have anything but 4x4

2wd rides better than 4wd and gets better mileage. I have a 2017 ecoboost that averages 21.2 highway and around town.

I've owned several 4x4s over the years and hardly ever used them. My last three have been 2wd. Most newer 2wd trucks today have locking rear axles or limited slip which is about all it sounds like you need.
