"I seen...."

For the love of all that is holy, I beg you, please stop!

Nice reference link - reminds me of an old joke I heard from way back.

A businessman was going to Boston for the first time. As he had never been there before he was given lots of suggestions from his coworkers for things to see and do while he was there. One in particular intrigued him, as he was a big fan of fresh seafood, and that suggestion was to visit Anthony's Pier 4 restaurant as they served the best fresh scrod (young cod) in the world.

When it came time to leave his business meeting he had about 4 hours to kill before catching his return flight home. He had forgotten the name of the restaurant so he just hailed a cab and told the cabbie "take me to a place where I can get scrod". "Wow", said the cabbie, "I've heard it asked for in some real funny ways, but never in the pluperfect subjunctive!". :becky:

(didn't read the whole thread so apologies if someone already beat me to it :p).

Would you also address the correct uses of "then / than"?

While you are at it, how about the correct use of accept and except

Near homonyms I can excuse, especially since you often can't tell in spoken word.

Redneck ebonics on the other hand... not so much. Like fingernails on a chalk board.
