i should be angry but i'm laughing

I am still running my old Onkyo receiver and Acoustic Research speakers that I bought in the 90's. I will replace it when it dies, but that stuff is still cranking strong and sounds great.......My parents bought Bose stuff a few years ago and were not happy with it and swapped it out for either JBL or Infinity stuff......

Onkyo's are fantastic the only reason i upgraded my old TX-SV828 is due to HD and that was a good time to upgrade to Digital 7.2 i guess.

haha yeah me to, but if they haven't bought anything yet I at least tell them not to go with those Bose system that have the tiny speakers and the sub, there is a reason why Bose does not release the frequency coverage for those systems :)
I wasn't necessarily talking about audio systems as I'm not really into them anymore. I used to be able to tell you different brands blind folded (I'm only half kidding). I do still have my JBL's from the late 70's that still sound great.

Are you equating "loudness" with quality? My sister has the Bose lifestyle system with a crappy IPod interface and it sounds pretty amazing, with superb imaging. I ran large Advents for years powered with Marantz tube amps, Crown amps and finally Yamaha amps and while they would never get louder than a pair of JBL's or Klipschs, the tonality was superior. I presently have small JBL bookshelfs with a Polk sub and center channel and Bose 151's for the rear channels and it sounds pretty good to me.
