i should be angry but i'm laughing

Which PSB's did you listen to? I have heard some that I don't care for but the higher end models blow any Best Buy speaker out the door!

can't remember, but i've listened to a few different ones they have carried. i don't buy my speakers from best buy or any of them big box stores

sure bose sounds great if u don't know what good sound is. if u don't want any bass, any reliable highs, and u love that tin can sound, bose is for you

I guess this is me as well, perhaps I am ignorant to what good sound is? I have never heard of most of the brands that you recommended your co-worker. A friend of mine has a Bose home theater system and it sounds great to me.
I have a Pioneer home theater system and feel like it sounds good as well.

Can you educate me on what makes Bose suck and the ones you listed better?

well here's a few reasons why bose makes really terrible and over priced products

-the speakers they use are just crap. they use itty bitty little speakers in their housings with tiny drivers and magnets. the cones of the speakers are made of "space age paper" which means paper. paper doesn't cut it when it comes to sound quality. they claim that their "direct reflecting" technology revolutionizes the way sound waves are heard. the term itself is an oxymoron.
-the housings that the speakers are put in are of poor quality, almost like fiberboard glued together. when u turn up the volume u can hear how hollow and tin-like the sound is due to not being able to handle the vibration of the speaker inside
-the bose "subwoofer" is nothing more than a full range speaker put inside a big housing made of fiberboard, painted really nicely. i don't need to say any more
-their marketing tactics mislead people into buying expensive junk with terms like direct reflecting, wave guide, accoustimass. and yet none of those terms are accurate in terms of their product's ability to produce sound
