a co worker of mine just came up to me and told me he spent $2500 on a bose all in one home theater system. for the last 3+ months he's been hounding me day and night and asking for advice on what he should get. everything from a/v unit to book shelf/floor standing speakers to the subwoofer.

i tell him polk, velodyne, paradigm, jbl, axiom, klipsch, etc, but don't buy the bose, u will regret it

what did he do? spend twice as much money for a bose set up and now he's pissed that he doesn't have the same sound quality that i do from my home theater system.

he had the bose guys come to his house and hook it all up for an extra $100. i told him for $2600 i could have gotten him a system 4 times better and still keep $500 for myself after installing it all

i guess it's true what they say about a fool and his money

Another sucker falls for BOSE :) I personally use Jamo and Onkio have for over a decade actually closer to two, damn im getting old :(

Been there (with advice given). I simply smile and say, "I'm sure you'll enjoy it." :)
haha yeah me to, but if they haven't bought anything yet I at least tell them not to go with those Bose system that have the tiny speakers and the sub, there is a reason why Bose does not release the frequency coverage for those systems :)

Bose speakers are not bad at all when your powering them with a good receiver. The proprietary Bose systems greatly limit any tweaking of your sound while their speakers through a quality receiver are pretty awesome.

So what Bose system to do you have ;)

I grew up listening to Bose 901's. They cost a small fortune in the 70's and 80's. I do not know if they are still offered. At that time a seperate bass unit speaker was offered to complement the 901's, but nobody I knew ever had that set up. The highs and mids were great, but definately missing a little bass. I have never had any Bose stuff, but heard plenty of it.
