I swear I hate teens.....

Years ago my sisters daughter got out of hand as a young teen. She told her father what he had to do for her. He showed her what he had to do for her. He stripped her room of everything except a bed a pillow and one blanket. Took all her clothes away except one outfit. She had to wash her clothes everyday for the next day. Her food everyday for two weeks was the same thing. No electronics (phone). She never told him what he had to do for her again.

I had to pick my own switch and now ya can't because DFCS gets called.
When my daughter went through that mouthy pre-teen stage, we were in a store, she was obliviously blocking an aisle where an older lady wanted to get through.
To get her attention, i lightly backhand slapped her arm.
She turned and said " I could have you arrested for child abuse, you know".
I quietly responded, "yes, and possibly I would spend some time in jail. But eventually I would get out, and what do you think would happen to you then?"
She never made that threat again.

I think usually you can reason with a girl. They may not like it, but they can figure it out without having to get too physical. But testy, OMG!!!!
You can't reason with a arrogant 17 year old boy. They think they know more than you. Well life is about to pull the joke of the century in them.

I was the opposite (to a degree). I broke bad at 14 or so (let’s just say it involved a girl) and started to get my life together (to a degree) 3 years later.

Now I’m 34, a pastor (not currently pastoring a church), and work a full-time job in a leadership role. I feel like not a day goes by that I don’t feel even a hint of remorse or guilt of what I put my parents through.

Something worth noting here to everyone: it’s easier to build boys than repair men. Same can be said for girls.
