Gentlemen, stainlineho stainlineho and I went to CMP today. I finally took the FNH SCAR 17S out after a long hiatus and new options on her. I swapped optics and took the Trijicon ACOG off and put an Arken Optics EP5 5-25 on. Swapped the SilencerCo Omega for a SureFire SOCOM 762-RC2. Went out to shoot and I felt that the recoil was bad as the rifle was off target after every shot at both the 100yd zero and the unknown distance range. Also tried new ammo, AAC's 175gr OTM, which was $17.99/box. Rifle was accurate, shot good groups after I realized I needed some schooling on trigger discipline. But the recoil and being off target after each shot was dreadful. Am I asking too much for the SCAR to be a DMR, as it was designed to be a battle rifle? Or do I need to switch to a designated DMR, like LWRC REPR, Wilson Combat Super Sniper, etc? Yes I already have the Geissele Super SCAR trigger installed. I did not buy any aftermarket gas jets or KNS DiSCARer, or SCARburator, etc. Thanks Guru's!!!

Once upon a time I had the 17 and tried to build it out for distance like you. Same results, not likely to happen. It's a battle rifle. The 20 in 6.5, that's another story with a happy ending. Replace the ACOG and enjoy slinging fire down range 300 - 5 or 600 yards...that's what God intended the 17 for. Good luck.

Might have done better without the suppressor. Some guns just don't like the weight on the end of the barrel and the extra push back from the gas not being able to escape.
The competitors use a compensator.

The 6.5 cm gas gun I built is still for sale, and it will shoot.

I think the ACOG and Omega was a good combination. But the back pressure was greatly increased. Bolt carrier felt like it was trying to escape from prison.

Tried it without the can, still bad.

Maybe I need to brush up on my skills. I've been evading your class for far too long!!

I've had a few students run the SCAR-17S in my 1,000 Basic Precision Rifle Course. With the right ammo they did just fine out to 1,000yds.

I've had 2 students run the SCAR-20, and it shot even better.
