I tried an SOG. Very disappointing.

I got one of their higher quality knives and, though it has many nice things about it, they mean nothing because of the worst assisted opening systems I've ever dealt with. The thing jams up randomly and is somewhat dangerous. I've cut myself twice and my daughter cut herself the first time she opened it. We are both experienced knife people.

My daughters love me and got me one of my beloved Benchmades for my birthday.

This thing sux.

Ever tried the Benchmade Mini Boost? Is an assisted opener.

I've had a couple of assisted opening Benchmades and liked them, but most Benchmades are weighted so you can open them with just a flick of your wrist. The one I have now is actually an auto opener.
