Wow there is a lot of union cultism in this thread.

The Democratic party would like to thank the IBEW for the 3,000,000 in 2010.

Like I said I'm there for the pay and benefits. I cannot work non union and make what I make. I don't agree with the union leaders and their beliefs. They don't believe what I believe. They don't stand for what I stand for. The contractor that I have worked for for over 13 years is a right wing supporting contractor that uses union labor because some of our biggest customers prefer union trained workers. Our customers include at&t, SunTrust, and Emory health care. The union might support the Democrat party but I do not. I understand that you hate unions but there is no since in letting that get in between the brotherhood that we have here on the ODT. And on the recommendation of JWC, if I need HVAC work done Captdave77 is the man I'm calling. I just hope you will still help me if I need you now that you know I'm union.

Maybe not but all of the donations from the IBEW went to Dems. Your vote may say one thing but your wallet says another. Which do you think had a larger impact? That's like saying "I sent money to Obama but didn't vote for him."

Obama is not all the "DEMS" and all politicians are the same.

Not to make anyone butt hurt by what I say but my husband was 25, had a wife and two kids. He worked for the IBEW and was the sole provider. At the end of the day it's not about where that money goes but about how my husband supported his family

Unless you work for me I don't care whether you are union or not but it sounds more like more of an extortion scam than a brotherhood. My brother does not demand money from me and then hand it to my political opponents.

It is true that most union members from Georgia are far and away conservatives. I have worked in two unions and have plenty of friends that work for the unions. All of them are as conservative as can be. Even the Local reps for the most part, but not all of them. A man has to work so I'll never knock anyone for that. I just completely disagree with the union mentality, and especially their political agendas at the higher levels.

If all politicians are the same, you don't care if your money goes to Obama, Ron Paul, Sara Palin, or Harry Reid. If all politicians are the same, why not keep that cash for your strike fund or reduce your fees?

Unions stopped being about the worker half a century ago.
