IBEW Local 613

Not all IBEW members vote for Dems

That is true, but I was a Union member for less than one year. I received propaganda from the IBEW telling me to vote Democrat, even listed the correct candidates to choose. I got out. I was black-listed and I no longer work in the field. I am a maintenance planner nowdays. No way was my money going to be used to influence votes and I don't care which party they support.

When I started this thread i did not mean for it to become a **** storm for who supports unions versus who does not. I just wanted to reach out and see if there where any brothers on here. I apologize for starting this thread.

Unions are in it for UNION EXPANSION & take membership dues & give to democrats. Had a huge falling out with the local over this issue where I worked once upon a time, long, long ago. Made enemies out of those who followed the union rules, lock step, but made a lot more friends. I discovered that a LOT of union rules & guidelines hold back folks from succeeding & progress just as much as they "protect" jobs. And the little form they give you to fill out if you tell them you do NOT want your dues donated to democrats is hokum. The only way to break their stranglehold on the job market is to GET OUT! It's awfully hard for lots of folks to understand this, & with the economy down, fear & intimidation over financial stresses; lots of folks can't see their way to fight the union domination of so many jobs. It was really better for me once I managed to quit & actually fight the union decades ago, but it took some doing & early on it was kind of emotional for me. As I learned very late in the process , over 2000 others had done the same thing. If, HUGE IF, the unions would break away from their antiquated zealotry & twinning with democrat ( socialist) politics, & truly become partners with business & industry , they wouldn't be so bad, but I saw & witnessed the unions become representatives of those who were jerks, weirdoes, dopers, & those who would rather be slackers, RATHER than those who actually worked , educated themselves, & wanted to be lifelong producers. And a LOT of the young kids who would come along with some real skills, & go power were often forced to the back of the line, laid off , fired, but protected those same slackers due to "other reasons" including socialist politics like EEOC stuff. Costs us all LOTS of money & costs jobs. LOTS OF ADDITONAL OVERHEAD FOR COMPANIES PASSED ALONG TO CONSUMERS IN HIGHER PRICES. The balance is way out of kilter.

That's just the way it happens. Next time just mention GLOCK and grap some popcorn. I don't own one or have an opinion on them but there are some people who get ripped up over them.

My union helps me have a better environment to work in. Got rid of faulty safety equipment that we had, prevented an outside Chief with a horrible reputation from getting the job, and helped get us a bonus check for the first time in I don't know how long.

And I am backed by an Attorney if I ever need it for work related issues.

So my dues don't solely go to Political backing. Not what its about for me.
