I found this at an old home place in Jasper County. Always wondered what it was. It’s a rim fire cartridge. Never been able to find any info on it. 357 and 45 for size reference. Anybody know what it might be?

from what I can see. There are 8 sides or flats to the ‘cartridge’. This and the fact that it is 50 cal or larger and not round, makes it unlikely to be a rimfire rifle or pistol round.

There’s a bunch of numbers on base. Hard to tell what they are. I guess I need a magnifying glass. If it’s not a rimfire rifle or pistol, what could it be?

Do a crayon, pencil or chalk rubbing of the head stamp using a piece of paper. Could be flare, signal (starter), etc...
