The transfer portal and NIL unchecked will change the college game forever. You can’t keep two deep 4 and 5 star players at each position because they have no interest in competing, better to be crowned the star than compete for a spot! Don't like the Coach, fans, food....other schools will break out the checkbook to build the roster. It’s not an amateur sport now

It hasn't been an amateur sport for decades. All the money has been under the table.

Football has sucked for a long time for all but a few. Sorry, Alabama's under the table money can't match other schools on the table money. IMO, they will fade in the coming years as these programs bleed players out of the dynasty. Players should have the ability to transfer if they want. Not sure why we ever penalized them for that, other than the big schools desiring that they get punished if they leave.

I am a Vol and it really seemed like even a team with the resources of UT was never coming back and who knows this season could be a flash in the pan.

The big winners in the NIL deals are probably Georgia and Texas A&M.

The transfer portal will keep a bit more parity in football as starting positions will provide more NIL money and many won't want to sit on the bench when they could be making more money.

Overall I am thankful that the Vols loosing so long cured me of sports ball.

College football has been run like a plantation for many decades. Only a handful of the players ever graduate with a college degree while they are playing for the school. A smaller handful ever play professionally. The transfer portal and NIL deals are the best thing that could have happened for these athletes. Cry me a river.

How much money does Georgia football generate?

To put this in perspective, per the NCAA Membership Financial Reporting System and for the 2021 reporting year, UGAA reported $169,064,656 in operating revenue and $122,722,893 in operating expenses, leaving a difference of $46,341,763.

Agreed completely. Scholarship athletes should get ONE trip through the portal. Their tuition, room, and board was already paid. We'll over 6 figures at most tier one schools. Put a value on the best coaches, staff and facilities money can buy while you get trained for your dream job and a national platform to showcase your skills. How many get that opportunity? Literally a paid internship with a free education. If that's not enough for your services, don't play.
It's too late. There is no difference now between pro and D1 sports. We'll, except most college games aren't rigged.... yet.

I say we make the college system the place where all play must be clean and free of drugs and any other enhancements. Turn the Pro league into anything goes. They can take anything, implant anything, do anything for an advantage. The medical research done and the benefits to those of not so genetically gifted would be awesome.

First time you're caught on juice or anything in the lower "clean" league you are banished forever to the Pro anything goes league

Not true: D1 players still only have to get one foot down in-bounds for a sideline reception
