If you chase someone down, it's hard to claim self defense...

I really feel the shooter handled this wrong. The whole reason to carry is not only your rights but it is to protect you and your family. Period !! If there is no evidence of threat to your personal being or your family leave the situation to those that train everyday for that right judgement call !! We are not living in the wild west !! If your only reason to carry a weapon is to punish those that you feel are taking advantage of the system, go get a badge and a law degree and have at it ! I dont post a lot but some of these comments are a lot annoying ! Rexam why you carry and what you would do in like situation! Most have said here if they are not attacking me or my family they can get the heck on! If they run they are not threatening your life !!

Remember most of us have kids. what would you do if black, white, mexican, or whoever shot your kid! He had skittles and some change ! Not a knife, gun anything ! He had a reason to be there ! That really ticks me off ! Loss of life is precious no matter what color he was ! If he was a low life scum bag out robbing and killing thats quite another story ! But was he an immediate threat to you or your family . All the more reason if you carry know how and when to discharge your weapon . What does immediate threat to life and limbs mean to you ?

I'm not sure if someone has posted the other 911 call on here yet. I only got to page two but here it is. It is really hard to claim self defense when the kid is screaming "help me" at the top of his lungs before he is shot.

I have kids and after hearing this I honestly lost sleep over it. It drives me nuts that no one engaged the threat with equal force. We are all armed on these forums and I know for a fact that if this had been happening in my back yard I'd have been out there with my Saiga 12 regulating while the wife was on the phone. It is so sad that this kid died this way.

There is a lot more going on and now it appears that the kid may have attacked. I am gonna stop judging these things till all the facts are in. The fact that the Black Panthers placed a bounty on Zimmermans head tells me that he may well have been justified in his actions against that kid.

from the transcripts from the other 911 callers, it appears as if the kid was on top of him and he was the one yelling for help....regardless, he should have just stayed in the car and it would have never gotten to this. he wanted to be a hero and is ending up making himself a criminal.

Yup... If not for him the kid would still be alive.

I was thinking about this last night... How would I rreact if i was walking to my house in the rain at night and some crep was following me in a car. then the creep got out of his car and began to chase me down? That zimmerman fellow is lucky he wasnt the one laying dead.
