If you could have 1 or 2 long guns if the SHTF which would they be and why?

I have to revise my previous answer to this one:

I'd go with a 22lr and a good lever 30-30, I'd have no reason to engage people out beyond 200 yards so the 308 that lives in my safe wouldn't be one of the two I'd grab. The 22 will take care of small game and the 30-30 larger game and defense.

This is an awesome thread.
To answer the 30-06 question I think it would have to do with it's ballistic arch but I'm not an expert. I love my 30-06 and have proven to be very deadly with it.
I don't know if I could only have 2 but my bug out plan has a static go to location also. If I were going to be on the run I'd probably have my 1911 on my hip, the AR in my hands, and either the shotgun or 22lr lever action across my back.

The 30-06 is a very flat shooting round. I think the reason it hasn't really been seen in this thread is that the 308 is also a very flat shooting round and far more abundant.

my henry 22 and my remington 870... much more likely to find and kill a bird than a deer. 22 will be just fine for human threats and small game

See. I told you I wasn't an expert. Haha
Did a little research on my own and see both sides now. Thanks for the help.

No problem. Here is a trajectory table with the most common rounds and bullets weights that you might find helpful:

http://www.chuckhawks.com/rifle_trajectory_table.htm

and if anyone knows how to attach an excel file I have a spreadsheet that is pretty good for mapping out trajectories of hand-loads based on the velocity, weather conditions, ballistic coefficient of the bullet used, and some other stuff. If its not possible to post excel files you can pm me your email address and I can email it to you.
