My middle daughter and my son inlaw are expecting their first baby this August. Found out several weeks ago that Axell (my soon to be born grandson) has a bulge in his lower spine that is leaking spinal fluid - medical term for this affliction is spina bifida myelomeningocele. They have worked with several specialists in Atlanta, but the best prognosis is fetal surgery at a facility in Houston Tx. Not experimental surgery but very new and somewhat leading edge procedure. My daughter has been out there all week with her mother in-law for testing and pre-op prep. Long story short is she will be out there for another 3 weeks after this coming Tuesdays surgery as long as there are no complications. They are both in their early 20's and are financially stressed from all the costs and this thing hasn't even started good yet. Family and friends are all chipping in financially and on the physical side but I figured I'd throw this out here as well. Times are tight and the economy sucks but If you feel compelled to donate then you can do so using the venmo info in the post below - please note that it's from the ODT crew. I don't venmo, and if you don't either then I would be glad to accept donations in whatever fashion you trust and make sure it gets to them. (Below is what her sister has posted on other sites)

We’ve had many people reach out asking what they can do or how they can help my sister & brother in law throughout everything they’re going through concerning Savannah and Baby Axell.

For anyone who isn’t aware, Savannah and Mitchell were told that Axell has a form of spina bifida, they’ve been given a chance to have a surgery in Houston, Tx. this month that will hopefully lessen the effects of his condition, before he’s due in August. This leaves Savannah unable to work for awhile and Mitchell having to take time off of work as well.
We know prayers work and are so appreciative of them, but if you feel led to help them in a physical way, I’ve attached a link and the username to a venmo account for Savannah. There’s many expenses that are popping up for them through this hospital stay, on top of normal every day bills and life expenses. I know anything donated would be a huge blessing to them!
I do ask if you donate that you choose the description for it to be :
“Prosser donation”
Or
“Baby Axell donation”
Thank you all for your continued prayers and thoughts!

I asked the same questions. They only have a small window to do the surgery in before she is to far along so Houston was the only place available.
