I need a place to take a teen girl and her mom who have really been down on their luck and dealing with sadness/depression in their lives. Looking for over the top memorial type stuff. Suggestion?
-Locations in Downtown Atlanta tourist areas and riding Marta and unique shopping (they have never been to a big city)?
-locations in the mountains with breathtaking views and beauty, Applachian Trail maybe?
-trout streams that might take work and hiking to get to that will avoid the typical stocked stream crowds?
-any other suggestions within a 3 or 4 hour drive from Atlanta?
-Stone Mountain or Six Flags?

Skip six flags and stone mountain unless you go at night for the laser show.

You cant go wrong with the Applachian Trail area...

Also consider ruby falls , rock city, dahlonega , look out mountain.

Tallulah Gorge. is nice, The Movie Deliverance was filmed there (years ago), and Walenda walked across the Gorge on a tight rope there.
But still very Nice area to see.
Or Ruby Falls.

More places from Ga tourism:
Places to visit across the town include downtown's Underground Atlanta, the Margaret Mitchell House in Midtown Atlanta, the Fox Theater, the Coca Cola Worldwide Headquarters and Museum, the CNN Center, the Martin Luther King Jr. Center and the Georgia State Aquarium. Fun areas for entertainment and shopping include Buckhead, Little Five Points, and Virginia Highland.
